Teaching

Everyone is a mathematician.

My goals as a teacher are to help students learn and grow as mathematicians, whether in achieving mastery of mathematical material, in improving their ability to clearly communicate mathematical ideas, in achieving resilience and persistence in their mathematical practice, or in deepening their understanding of what it means to do mathematics.

To achieve those ends, I am interested in using active classrooms (including, but not necessarily, flipped classrooms), designing structures and assessments to improve communication skills, and creating lively, inclusive, and collaborative classroom communities.

Here are some sample syllabi; these are not meant to substitute for current syllabi and further course information on Moodle.

You can find my current courses in this part of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics web page.
